• Emissions: Belize emitted around 8.02 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, around 0.01% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 19.2 tonnes per person per year in 2024, rated extremely high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions fell by around 1.94% a year over the ten years to 2024, slower than the 4% yearly decline the world needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ makes up around 91% of emissions, methane 6%, nitrous oxide 1.7% and F-gases 1.1%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Belize's emissions have produced around 484 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, around 0.01% of the global total, or around 25.4 tonnes per person per year.
