• Emissions: Indonesia emitted around 1,900 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 3.3% of the global total.
• Per person: This was around 6.7 tonnes per person per year, rated high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions fell by around 31 megatonnes CO₂e a year over the ten years to 2024, or 1.6% yearly-slower than the 4% yearly global decline needed for Net Zero in 2050 and around 1.7 °C warming.
• What drives it: CO₂ made up around 74% of emissions, methane 21%, nitrous oxide 3.7% and F-gases 1.1%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Indonesia's emissions have produced around 126,000 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, about 3.2% of the global total. This averages around 7.4 tonnes per person per year, rated high.
