• Trend: Emissions rose by around 103 megatonnes CO₂e a year, or 2.76% yearly, over the ten years to 2024, rather than the 4% yearly decline the world needs for Net Zero in 2050 and around 1.7 °C warming.
• What drives it: CO₂ made up 71.21% of India's emissions, methane 19.72%, nitrous oxide 7.14% and F-gases 1.93%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, India's emissions have produced around 195,000 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, around 5% of the global total, or around 2.1 tonnes per person per year, rated low.
