• Emissions: Venezuela emitted around 203 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.36% of the global total.
• Per person: This was around 7.2 tonnes per person per year, rated high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions fell by around 8.5 megatonnes CO₂e a year over the ten years to 2024, a 3.97% yearly decline, slightly slower than the 4% yearly global decline needed for Net Zero in 2050.
• What drives it: Fossil and land-use CO₂ made up around 66% of emissions, methane 23%, nitrous oxide 5.5% and F-gases 5.2%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Venezuela's emissions have produced around 22,700 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, about 0.58% of the global total, averaging around 13.6 tonnes per person per year and rated extremely high.
