• Emissions: El Salvador emitted around 10.4 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.02% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 1.6 tonnes per person per year in 2024, rated low on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions rose by around 0.12 megatonnes CO₂e a year over the ten years to 2024, rather than the 4% yearly decline the world needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ made up 55% of emissions, methane 30%, nitrous oxide 9% and F-gases 5%.
