• Emissions: Finland emitted around 88.6 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, around 0.16% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 15.8 tonnes per person per year, rated extremely high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions rose by around 0.093 megatonnes CO₂e a year over the ten years to 2024, rather than the 4% yearly decline the world as a whole needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ made up around 86% of emissions, nitrous oxide 7.2%, methane 6.2% and F-gases 0.91%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Finland's emissions have produced around 8,660 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, around 0.22% of the global total, or around 13.7 tonnes per person per year.
