• Emissions: Bangladesh emitted around 245 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.43% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 1.4 tonnes per person per year, rated low on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions rose by around 5.5 megatonnes CO₂e a year, or about 2.5% yearly, over the ten years to 2024, rather than the 4% yearly decline the world needs to limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ makes up 46% of emissions, methane 39%, nitrous oxide 13% and F-gases 1.4%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Bangladesh's emissions have produced around 15,800 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, about 0.4% of the global total, or around 1.5 tonnes per person per year.
