Key Messages

• Emissions: Czechia emitted around 88.3 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.15% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 8.2 tonnes per person per year, rated very high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions fell by around 4.4% a year over the ten years to 2024, faster than the 4% yearly decline the world as a whole needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ made up around 74% of emissions, methane 14%, nitrous oxide 7.6% and F-gases 5%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Czechia's emissions have produced around 15,000 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, about 0.38% of the global total, or around 9 tonnes per person per year.
