• Emissions: Kenya emitted around 99.6 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.17% of the global total.
• Per person: Kenya emitted around 1.8 tonnes per person per year in 2024, rated low on a scale where any amount above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions rose by around 1.1% a year over the ten years to 2024, rather than falling by the 4% yearly rate needed globally to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: Methane makes up 54% of emissions, CO₂ 25%, nitrous oxide 21% and F-gases 0.18%.
