• Emissions: Kuwait emitted around 188 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.33% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 38.2 tonnes per person per year, rated extremely high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions rose by around 4.15 megatonnes CO₂e a year, or 2.63%, over the ten years to 2024, rather than the 4% yearly decline the world needs to limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ makes up 68.72% of emissions, methane 19.64%, F-gases 10.98% and nitrous oxide 0.65%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Kuwait's emissions have produced around 7,550 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, about 0.19% of the global total, or around 51.3 tonnes per person per year on a population-weighted basis.
