• Emissions: Pakistan emitted around 488 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.85% of the global total.
• Per person: That was around 1.9 tonnes per person per year, rated low on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions rose by around 2% a year over the ten years to 2024, rather than the 4% yearly decline the world as a whole needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: Methane made up around 47% of emissions, CO₂ 36%, nitrous oxide 15% and F-gases 2.8%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Pakistan's emissions have produced around 27,700 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, about 0.71% of the global total, or around 2.5 tonnes per person per year, rated moderate.
