• Emissions: Republic of Korea emitted around 657 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, around 1.15% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 12.7 tonnes per person per year, rated extremely high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions fell by around 5.38 megatonnes CO₂e a year, or 0.79% yearly, over the ten years to 2024-slower than the 4% yearly decline needed globally for Net Zero in 2050 and around 1.7 °C warming.
• What drives it: CO₂ made up 87.89% of emissions, methane 5.8%, F-gases 4.22% and nitrous oxide 2.09%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Republic of Korea's emissions have produced around 25,600 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, around 0.65% of the global total, or around 6.3 tonnes per person per year, rated high.
