• Emissions: Slovakia emitted around 20 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.04% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 3.7 tonnes per person per year, rated moderate on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions fell by around 13.5% a year over the ten years to 2024, faster than the 4% yearly decline the world as a whole needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ makes up 53% of Slovakia's emissions, methane 27%, nitrous oxide 16% and F-gases 4%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Slovakia's emissions have produced around 5,650 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, about 0.14% of the global total, or around 8.6 tonnes per person per year, rated very high.
