Key Messages

• Emissions: Cambodia emitted around 92.8 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, about 0.16% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 5.3 tonnes per person per year in 2024, rated high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions fell by around 0.17% a year over the ten years to 2024, far slower than the 4% yearly decline the world needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ made up around 68% of Cambodia's emissions, methane 26%, nitrous oxide 4.9% and F-gases 0.76%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Cambodia's emissions have produced around 7,260 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, about 0.19% of the global total, or around 7.4 tonnes per person per year.
