• Emissions: Mali emitted around 66.8 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, around 0.12% of the global total.
• Per person: This was around 2.7 tonnes per person per year, rated moderate on a scale where any emissions above zero add warming.
• Trend: Emissions rose by around 0.75 megatonnes CO₂e, or 1.18%, a year over the ten years to 2024, rather than the 4% yearly decline the world needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: Methane made up around 44% of Mali's emissions, CO₂ 34%, nitrous oxide 21% and F-gases 1%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Mali's emissions have produced around 4,010 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, around 0.1% of the global total, or around 3.8 tonnes per person per year.
