• Emissions: Oman emitted around 117 megatonnes CO₂e in 2024, around 0.2% of the global total.
• Per person: Emissions were around 22.1 tonnes per person per year, rated extremely high on a scale where any level above zero adds warming.
• Trend: Emissions rose by around 2.3% a year over the ten years to 2024, rather than the 4% yearly decline the world as a whole needs to achieve Net Zero in 2050 and limit warming to around 1.7 °C.
• What drives it: CO₂ makes up 71% of national emissions, methane 26%, F-gases 1.3% and nitrous oxide 1.2%.
• Historic responsibility: Since 1851, Oman's emissions have produced around 4,390 megatonnes CO₂e of warming impact, around 0.11% of the global total, or around 24.5 tonnes per person per year.
